Rose geranium essential oil is steam-distilled from the stems and leaves of the Pelargonium graveolens shrub—commonly referred to as rose geranium. Its foliage smells strongly of roses, hence the name. The strength of the rosy aroma in the oil all depends on the stage of the leaves at distillation; steam-distilling the oil when the leaves have started turning yellow will produce a stronger rose aroma. Generally, the oil has a fragrance that is fresh and floral, with a hint of citrus.
Rose geranium essential oil is rich in terpenes, including a-pinene, myrcene, limonene, linalool and geraniol. Terpenes are bioactive and vaporous, so their properties can be accessed through inhalation. They contribute to a 'glad to be alive' sensation, not unlike the feeling you get when walking through a forest.
Rose geranium oil can be applied topically, via diffuser, and in soap products. We recommend using a high quality Rose Geranium Essential Oil.
Create a therapeutic massage oil by adding 2 drops of rose geranium oil to a carrier oil. Gently apply to affected areas to assist in the relief of skin irritations such as eczema, or use for a massage to balance the emotions.
Add 2-3 drops to bathwater for a deep soak to alleviate stress and PMT symptoms.
Diffuse oil of rose geranium in the air to help with depression and relieve anxiety.
In soap products
When used as an ingredient in handmade soaps and bath bombs, rose geranium oil will help to balance oily skin, fight acne, and have an astringent effect on enlarged pores.
Essential Oils are highly concentrated and must be used with care.
Not to be taken internally.
Do not use rose geranium oil for medical treatment without first speaking to a medical professional.
