What is Rosemary Essential Oil? 

Rosemary essential oil is extracted via steam distillation from the flowers of the rosemary shrub—Salvia rosmarinus—and is characterised by a powerful herbal scent that is both clear and refreshing. This is a stimulating essential oil, whose applications exist well beyond the culinary.

Properties

 Rosemary essential oil's chemical profile includes alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, borneol, camphor, camphene, bornyl acetate, limonene and 1,8-cineole. These contribute to a wide range of properties that include analgesic, antidepressant, astringent, carminative, cephalic, digestive, diuretic, hepatic, hypertensive, nervine, stimulant and tonic.

An energising essential oil that may assist with memory function, digestion, and circulation.

How to use rosemary essential oil

Rosemary essential oil can be applied topically, in a diffuser and in soap products.

Topical application

Counter fatigue and revive tired muscles by blending 2-3 drops with a carrier oil for massage.

Add 2-3 drops to bathwater for a refreshing soak.

Via diffuser

Add 2-3 drops to your favourite diffuser to relieve congestion and sinusitis, improve digestion and increase mental clarity.

 In soap products

Soaps and bath bombs that contain rosemary essential oil will give your bathing experience a bit of a boost; massage into the scalp to maintain a healthy head of hair.
