Collection: Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon essential oil is extracted from lemon peels via a cold press method. Lemon peels are derived from the fruit of the lemon tree, or Citrus limon. Along with eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, and lime oil, lemon essential oil is a very powerful natural cleaning agent. It offers a range of benefits for health and domestic applications, and is characterised by its sharply refreshing citrus scent, calling to mind ideas of 'cleanliness' and 'freshness'. 

Properties

The main chemical components of lemon essential oil are the citrus stalwarts beta-pinene, limonene, and alpha-terpineol, all of which contribute to excellent antibacterial, anti-microbial, antiseptic, depurative and generally refreshing properties.  

How to use lemon oil

Lemon oil can be applied domestically, topically, in vapour, or added to soap.

Domestic cleaning

Oil of Citrus limon can be used for cleaning scuff marks, deodorising and cleaning microwave ovens, removing soap scum, cleaning stainless steel surfaces, and so much more. Create an all-purpose cleaner by blending 10-15 drops of lemon essential oil, 10-15 drops of tea tree essential oil, one cup of water, and half a cup of white vinegar—mix and add to a glass spray bottle. (Lemon oil is corrosive to plastic.)

Topical application

When diluted with water, lemon essential oil can work wonders at removing dead skin cells and renewing your complexion.  Create a homemade exfoliant by mixing 2-3 drops with some oatmeal and water.

Add a few drops to your bathwater to give it an antiseptic boost; the resulting steam will also give you a sense of renewal.

In vapour

Add a few drops to your favourite diffuser to give your cognitive function a boost and improve your concentration. And, of course, lemon oil is excellent for eliminating unwanted odours.

In soap

If you are prone to acne, try using a handmade soap that includes lemon essential oil as a main ingredient. Its limonene and pinene content will work hard at eliminating harmful bacteria.     

Essential Oils are highly concentrated and must be used with care.

Do not apply undiluted. Not to be taken internally.
